Scottish football legend Alan Brazil has told TalkSPORT where he thinks Everton will finish in the Premier League this season.
The Toffees were dragged into a relegation battle under Frank Lampard last season and will be hoping to avoid the same fate this time out.
And Brazil doesn’t think Everton will be relegated this season but feels Lampard needs reinforcements.
Everton have brought in Dwight McNeil, James Tarkowski and Ruben Vinagre so far this summer but the former Ipswich Town striker thinks the club need to do more.
Brazil was asked if Everton fans should be concerned on TalkSPORT but the pundit dismissed their chances of being relegated this season.
“Well, I don’t think Everton will go down,” he said.
“I don’t think that’s going to be an issue (going down). But, it’s going to be a tough season and I think with all the money they’ve spent over the years, I understand why the owners are a little bit reluctant to dive in again.
“But at the same time, it’s crucial that they retain Premiership status and from Frank’s point of view, he needs fresh faces. So, they do need to help him out.”
It seems that the Everton board are beginning to make moves to provide Lampard with the fresh faces Brazil thinks he requires.
According to journalist Dean Jones, the Toffees are now looking likely to sign Chelsea duo Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi.
Barkley and Batshuayi are two players that Lampard will know well from his time in West London.
As the English boss lost his talisman in Richarlison to Spurs this summer, he will be keen to get some attacking reinforcements through the door.
If Brazil is to be proved right in his assessments, Everton will need to be busy for the remainder of the transfer window and give Lampard the tools to succeed in Merseyside.
