Arsenal look to continue their winning run as they take on Fulham in Saturday’s late Premier League kick off. The Gunners are the only team left in the league with a 100 per cent winning record after wins against Crystal Palace, Leicester and Bournemouth. They sit top of the table – before today’s 3pm kick offs – and look in incredible touch this year.
Gabriel Jesus has been instrumental to their fast start and the confidence Mikel Arteta’s side have been playing with so far is running all through the team. The Brazilian scored twice in his home debut over Leicester and will look to be on target again against the newly-promoted side.
For their part, Fulham have also made a good start to life back in the Premier League. After draws against Liverpool and Wolves, Marco Silva’s side got their first victory with a last-minute Aleksandr Mitrovic winner against Brentford last weekend though they did suffer a setback in midweek by being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two’s Crawley.
Follow all the action from the Emirates stadium as Arsenal host Fulham in the Premier League:
Gabriel Magalhaes went from zero to hero as he atoned for gifting Fulham the lead by scoring the winning goal and extending Arsenal’s perfect start to the Premier League season.
The Brazil defender was badly caught out by Aleksandar Mitrovic as the Gunners came from behind to win 2-1 and retain their place at the top of the table.
Mitrovic’s goal, his 100th for Fulham and his fourth of the season – already more than he managed in the entirety of their relegation campaign two years ago – gave the visitors hope of continuing their own unbeaten start to the season.
The Gunners maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season with victory at the Emirates Stadium.
Aleksandar Mitrovic netted his 100th goal for Fulham but he’ll be gutted tonight that it was during a losing cause.
It’s also his fourth goal of the season for the Cottagers which is more than he managed in his previous top-flight campaign for Fulham.
Fulham striker Alexsander Mitrovic on the defeat: “Hurts a lot. That is football, sometimes you win, last week last minute but today we lost. We gave everything out there, we fought until the end but we conceded two unlucky goals. First was rebound, second was after ricocheted. Very sad we didn’t take any points but we move on.
“We are here we are going to challenge everything, we will try to push hard and challenge every team, no matter who we face. We have to learn from some mistakes. In a few situations we had to be a bit more clinical. They have had a really good season so far, it is a tough place to come. Plenty more points to play for.”
Arsenal’s matchwinner, Gabriel, told Sky Sports: “After I lost the ball my head was down, but my brothers kept saying ‘let’s go’. I lifted my head up – my team-mates were a big help to me.
“After the referee said handball, I just asked God. I’m so happy with my team and the three points. It’s a big fight. I’m so happy.”
Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard spoke to Sky Sports following Arsenal’s victory: “It was brilliant. We knew it was going to be a tough game. We fought, showed great team spirit and it’s an amazing feeling.
“We played really well in the first half, we just missed the goal but that happens. He showed great character to come back and score the winning goal. It shows the character of the team. When someone makes a mistake, we lift them back up.
“We have to stay calm, take it game by game, work hard and win the next game. That’s the mindset.
“It’s a great chemistry with the fans. We made a mistake with the first goal but they kept supporting us. We’re grateful for all the support we get.”
Well played Arsenal. How long before they can be seen as genuine title contenders? They’ve got a two point lead over Manchester City after the openign four games.
What a game to close out Saturday’s Premier League action. Arsenal maintain their 100 per cent win record by digging deep after a mistake from Gabriel gave Fulham the lead
Martin Odegaard levelled the match with a deflected strike before Gabriel popped up in the right spot from a Gabriel Martinelli corner to give the Gunners victory.
90+8 mins: Arsenal complete the comeback win! They’ve cancelled out Aleksandar Mitrovic’s opener and make it four wins in a row to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
90+5 mins: Time will be added on due to the clash of heads and a couple of substitutions from Mikel Arteta. Aaron Ramsdale just boots the ball long and as Arsenal look to keep it inside Fulham’s half.
